Permanent Electrical Estimator roles with M&E building services contractors across the North‑West.

ravensearch is a specialist M&E recruitment agency working only on permanent roles in mechanical and electrical building services. We are based in Wigan and the contractors we work with are spread across the region, from Liverpool and Warrington through Manchester and out to Leeds.

This is one of the roles we are asked to fill most often, and the shortage of good electrical estimators is the reason. If you are pricing electrical packages now, you have more choice than you probably realise, including hybrid and largely home‑based arrangements that did not exist a few years ago.

What the work involves

Measurement and take‑off
Electrical services measured from drawings and specifications, from small works through to full distribution on a new build.
Tender submissions
Pricing, qualifications and the submission itself, usually against a deadline set by the main contractor.
Supply chain pricing
Enquiries out to wholesalers and subcontractors, then comparing what comes back on a like‑for‑like basis.
Handover to delivery
Walking the contracts and project managers through the build‑up once a job is won, so nothing is lost between tender and site.

The projects behind these roles

Healthcare, education and public sector frameworks, commercial fit‑out, retail, industrial and data infrastructure. Some of the contractors we work with price everything from ten thousand pound small works up to multi‑million pound packages, others sit firmly at one end of that. What it pays

Permanent Electrical Estimator roles we have handled recently have paid between £55,000 and £70,000, usually with a car or car allowance. Estimating manager positions go higher.

Hybrid arrangements are more common in this role than in most of the others we handle, and for some people that is worth more than the difference between the top and bottom of that range.

Every role here is permanent. We do not handle freelance or contract work, so nothing on this page is a day rate.

Manchester carries the largest construction pipeline in the region, and M&E demand follows it.

City centre commercial and residential towers, student accommodation, healthcare and the continuing work around Trafford Park and the airport corridor all sit within easy reach. The building services contractors working on them range from regional businesses to national operations running their North‑West office from the city.

Manchester is also where the more senior roles tend to surface. Director level, design management and large project appointments come up here more often than anywhere else we cover, partly because it is where contractors put their regional headquarters.
