The Opportunity

Our client, one of the industry’s largest independent M&E contractors, is looking for an Electrical Project Engineer to follow secured work from design coordination through pre-construction and procurement, and then into delivery as it goes live on site.

Most project engineer roles join a job at one stage and stay there. This one follows the same project from design coordination all the way onto site.

You would be based from the Warrington office during pre-construction, coordinating with the design team and managing procurement on secured works, before transitioning into the delivery team on live projects around Manchester and Prestwich.

This is a permanent role based in Warrington initially, £55,000 to £65,000 depending on experience, plus a full benefits package.

About the Business

Employee ownership changes how a contractor behaves. There is no PLC reporting cycle and no private-equity exit to work towards, and everyone in the business holds a direct stake in whether it succeeds. It tends to show in how decisions get made when a project turns difficult, and in how long people stay.

The multi-divisional structure matters too, particularly on a permanent contract. Work is spread across major projects, residential-led services and smaller specialist schemes rather than concentrated in one sector, so the pipeline does not depend on any single market staying busy.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Coordinating with the design team during pre-construction to ensure electrical designs are fully developed and ready for procurement

  • Managing electrical procurement on secured works, including subcontractor and supplier packages

  • Reviewing and resolving technical queries between design, procurement and delivery

  • Supporting the handover from pre-construction into site delivery, retaining ownership of the project through that transition

  • Moving into the delivery team as projects mobilise, managing electrical installation on site

  • Working closely with site management, subcontractors and the wider project team through to completion

  • Ensuring electrical installations are delivered to specification, in compliance with BS 7671, on programme and within budget

  • Supporting testing, commissioning and handover documentation as projects reach completion

What We're Looking For

  • A strong electrical building services background, with experience across pre-construction, procurement or site delivery

  • Comfortable working across multiple project stages rather than a single fixed phase

  • Confident coordinating with design teams and translating design intent into procurable, buildable packages

  • Willingness to be based in Warrington initially, transitioning to site-based delivery around Manchester and Prestwich

  • Strong organisational skills and clear technical communication

  • Relevant electrical qualifications

  • Full UK driving licence

What it is

•Design coordination, procurement and site delivery on the same job

•Ownership that carries through the pre-construction to delivery handover

•Warrington first, then live projects around Manchester and Prestwich

•Understanding a project from the start rather than joining it late

What it isn't

•A fixed seat at one stage of the process

•Picking up packages someone else coordinated and procured

•Office-only, or site-only

•Handing over at the end of pre-construction and moving on

What's on Offer

£55,000 – £65,000
Depending on experience
Full lifecycle
Design through to site
Full benefits
Company package
  • Rare full-lifecycle project exposure, from design coordination through to site delivery

  • Real variety across pre-construction and delivery, rather than a single fixed role

  • The backing of a large, employee-owned national contractor
