The Opportunity
Our client, one of the industry’s largest independent M&E contractors, is looking for an Electrical Site Manager to lead electrical delivery on the Upper Brooks Street development in Manchester, a purpose-built student accommodation scheme running through to January 2028.
A Manchester PBSA scheme with more than two years to run, and a permanent seat waiting on the next project after it.
You would take day-to-day ownership of electrical installation on site, managing labour, subcontractors and programme to keep delivery on track.
This is a permanent role based in Manchester, £50,000 to £60,000 depending on experience, plus a full benefits package.
About the Business
Employee ownership changes how a contractor behaves. There is no PLC reporting cycle and no private-equity exit to work towards, and everyone in the business holds a direct stake in whether it succeeds. It tends to show in how decisions get made when a project turns difficult, and in how long people stay.
The multi-divisional structure matters too, particularly on a permanent contract. Work is spread across major projects, residential-led services and smaller specialist schemes rather than concentrated in one sector, so the pipeline does not depend on any single market staying busy.
What You'll Be Doing
Leading electrical installation on site for the Upper Brooks Street PBSA project, Manchester
Managing site labour and specialist subcontractors, ensuring work is delivered to specification, safely and on programme
Coordinating closely with the project manager and wider site team on progress, resourcing and sequencing
Ensuring installations comply with BS 7671 and current regulations
Managing day-to-day health, safety and quality standards on site
Resolving technical and coordination queries as they arise during installation
Supporting testing, commissioning and snagging through to handover
Maintaining accurate site records and progress reporting
What We're Looking For
A strong electrical site management background within residential, student accommodation or similar large-scale construction
Experience managing labour and subcontractors directly on a live site
Comfortable managing programme, quality and health and safety day to day
Up-to-date knowledge of BS 7671 and relevant standards
