The Opportunity
Our client, a national M&E contractor, is looking for a QITP Manager to own quality, inspection and test compliance across their live M&E projects. This is a practical, site-based quality role rather than a pure paperwork exercise: you would need real credibility to assess whether mechanical and electrical work meets standard, not just whether the checklist has been signed.
Day to day, you would verify quality assurance checks carried out by specialist subcontractors on site, meet with the main contractor to report progress against check sheet completion, and keep project managers informed of quality status and any programme implications. It is a role that sits between the trade and the paperwork: you need to know what good M&E work actually looks like on site, and be equally comfortable turning that into clear, credible reporting for main contractors and clients.
This is a permanent role based in Bristol, £50,000 to £60,000 depending on experience, plus a full benefits package.

Our client is a national M&E contractor with a strong reputation built over decades of delivery, working with a number of the UK’s major main contractors on long-standing, repeat relationships. Their portfolio spans heritage, luxury hospitality, healthcare, education, defence and custodial, industrial and transport, and commercial sectors, and they operate as main contractor on a number of their own schemes as well as delivering specialist M&E subcontract packages.
Quality and compliance sit at the centre of how the business operates. They hold ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 accreditation alongside NICEIC, BESA, ECA, Gas Safe and Constructionline, and their Zero Harm approach to health and safety reflects a wider culture of doing things properly rather than just documenting that they were done.
This Bristol-based role extends the business into a region where they do not currently have an established office, so the person appointed will have a hand in shaping how quality is delivered and represented in the area as the business grows its presence there.
What You'll Be Doing
Developing, implementing and maintaining quality assurance check sheets and inspection and test plans across live M&E projects
Verifying quality assurance checks carried out by specialist subcontractors on site, confirming work meets standard rather than accepting paperwork at face value
Meeting with the main contractor to report progress against check sheet completion
Reporting to project managers on quality progress and any resulting programme implications
Reviewing existing quality processes and amending them where they are not working in practice
Collaborating with engineering, project and procurement teams to resolve quality issues before they become bigger problems
Managing quality assurance documentation, including reports, procedures and compliance records
Overseeing testing and validation processes ahead of handover
Providing training and guidance to site teams and subcontractors on quality standards and best practice
Supporting a positive quality culture on site, through credible, hands-on guidance rather than just enforcement
What We're Looking For
A trade background in mechanical or electrical installation, ideally qualified to NVQ Level 3 or equivalent, giving you real credibility to assess installation quality on site
Relevant M&E qualifications and up-to-date knowledge of current testing and inspection standards
Experience in an M&E quality assurance, compliance or inspection role, verifying work carried out by others
Confident meeting main contractors and clients directly to report progress and quality status
Strong organisational skills, comfortable managing quality across multiple live projects at once
Leadership capability, with experience managing or guiding others and working across departments
Comfortable using a laptop or tablet for reporting, including Microsoft Office and Excel
Clear, credible communicator, able to hold a firm line with subcontractors when standards are not being met
Full UK driving licence
