The Opportunity
The business behind this role is a major national contractor with a portfolio that runs through some of the most complex, high-profile estates in the country, and they are looking for someone to manage commercial delivery on a properly resourced project of genuine scale.
Our client is a leading UK mechanical, electrical and plumbing engineering contractor with a long-standing reputation across health, justice, defence, education and central and regional government sectors. They operate confidently within live, operational environments, often within complex or sensitive estates where continuity of service and stakeholder management are as important as the technical delivery itself.
This is a permanent role based in Castleford, covering the full commercial cycle on a portfolio of mechanical and electrical engineering contracts. The QS will manage cost and commercial activity from award through to final account, working within an established team and reporting into senior commercial leadership.
About the Business
Our client has been delivering mechanical, electrical and plumbing engineering services for the best part of a century, with deep, long-standing relationships across the building engineering services and electrical contracting trade bodies. That heritage translates into genuine technical authority and a level of client trust that is difficult to replicate.
Their project portfolio spans plant replacement, infrastructure renewal and engineering modernisation, frequently delivered within live, operational estates such as hospitals, courts and government buildings. They work as both principal contractor and specialist supply chain partner, offering a complete service from feasibility and design through to installation, commissioning and long-term aftercare.
Accreditations include ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO/IEC 27001 and ISO 19650, and the business has received external recognition in recent years for the standard of its health and safety delivery. For a QS who wants to work on technically demanding projects for a business with genuine national scale, this is a step up from much of what is currently on the market.
