M&E Quantity Surveyor

M&E Quantity Surveyor jobs in the North‑West

Permanent M&E Quantity Surveyor roles with building services contractors across the North‑West.

ravensearch is a specialist M&E recruitment agency working only on permanent roles in mechanical and electrical building services. We are based in Wigan and the contractors we work with are spread across the region, from Liverpool and Warrington through Manchester and out to Leeds.

M&E quantity surveying is a narrower field than general construction QS work and it pays accordingly. If you have building services experience, you are competing in a much smaller pool than you would be on the main contracting side, and that shows up in the offers.

What the work involves

Valuations and cash
Monthly applications, valuations and the job of keeping cash coming in on time rather than eventually.
Variations and change
Pricing variations and defending them, which on M&E packages is usually where the margin is won or lost.
Subcontract management
Placing and managing subcontract packages, and holding the supply chain to what was agreed.
Final accounts
Taking contracts through to settlement, with the reporting that keeps the board informed on the way.

The projects behind these roles

Industrial, food and drink and pharmaceutical work, healthcare and education frameworks, and commercial new build and fit‑out. Some roles sit on a single large contract, others cover a portfolio of smaller ones, and the two suit quite different people. It is worth being clear which you want.

What it pays

Permanent M&E Quantity Surveyor roles we have handled recently have paid between £60,000 and £75,000, with senior positions at the top of that range and a car or allowance on top.

Building services experience is the thing that moves the number. A general construction QS moving across should expect to start lower and catch up quickly.

Every role here is permanent. We do not handle freelance or contract work, so nothing on this page is a day rate.

Lancashire

M&E jobs in Blackburn

Blackburn and the wider East Lancashire market produce a steady trickle of permanent M&E roles rather than a constant stream.

The area has a genuine manufacturing and industrial base, and the building services contractors here tend to work across an unusually wide sector spread, from healthcare through to aerospace and emergency services. For a project or contracts manager that variety is often the appeal.

We will not pretend the volume matches Warrington or Manchester. What we can do is tell you honestly what is live in East Lancashire at any point, and flag the North‑West roles within reach of the M65 if nothing closer fits.

What we recruit here

Commercial
