Overview
We are currently seeking an Electrical Design Engineer in Blackburn to join a well-established electrical contractor with a strong in-house design capability and a steady pipeline of work across the North.
This is a role for someone who enjoys producing coordinated, buildable electrical designs and working closely with project teams to take solutions from early concept through to installation support and handover. For the right person, there is realistic scope to progress into an Electrical Design Manager position as your responsibilities and project ownership grow.

What You’ll Be Doing
Producing electrical building services designs from concept through to detailed design
Designing systems including lighting, power, containment, small power, emergency lighting and fire alarm interfaces
Completing calculations, equipment selection, schedules and specifications
Coordinating with wider project teams to ensure designs are buildable and aligned to programme
Supporting design and build activity, contributing to scope clarity, assumptions and technical submissions
Attending design meetings and supporting technical queries through delivery
Supporting commissioning readiness and ensuring documentation is completed to a high standard
Maintaining tidy document control and working to agreed design QA procedures
Skills & Experience Required
Proven experience in electrical building services design (contractor or consultancy background)
Strong understanding of UK standards and regulations relevant to electrical design
Confident producing coordinated designs and working through RIBA stages
Competent with AutoCAD (Revit and BIM coordination experience beneficial)
Strong communication skills and a practical, solutions-led mindset
Organised approach to deadlines, documentation and stakeholder input
Benefits
Salary: £55,000 - £65,000 depending on experience
