Overview

Lead a proactive safety culture across a growing M&E contractor.

We’re working with a well-established mechanical and electrical services provider in Wigan to recruit a full-time, permanent Health & Safety Manager. This is a hands-on leadership role that will suit someone with strong technical knowledge, excellent communication skills, and the confidence to embed safe working practices across live projects.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Leading the development of RAMS, WPPs, COSHH assessments, toolbox talks, and other documentation

  • Carrying out planned and reactive site audits across multiple projects

  • Driving behavioural safety and coaching site teams on best practice

  • Ensuring full compliance with CDM 2015, Building Safety Act 2022, and internal processes

  • Leading accident investigations and preparing root cause analysis reports

  • Managing training records and coordinating external courses

  • Verifying subcontractor compliance, documentation, and site conduct

  • Producing monthly safety reports and recommending process improvements

Skills & Experience Required

Essential:
  • NEBOSH General Certificate (minimum)

  • Experience within M&E, building services or general construction

  • Sound knowledge of CDM 2015 and BSA 2022

  • Strong auditing and incident investigation experience

  • Confident communicator with the ability to coach and lead

  • Competent writing RAMS, WPPs, COSHH assessments

  • Full UK driving licence

Desirable:
  • NEBOSH Construction Certificate or higher

  • TechIOSH / GradIOSH (or working towards CMIOSH)

  • Fire safety knowledge (compartmentation, inspections, IFE certs)

  • Familiarity with systems like SharePoint, ACC, Fieldview, or PowerBI
