Known for their practical approach, long-standing client relationships, and structured leadership, they deliver projects across healthcare, education, commercial, and industrial sectors.
This role is a key part of the commercial leadership team, offering autonomy, variety, and visibility across a range of live projects.
What You’ll Be Doing
You’ll lead the commercial function on key projects, while managing and mentoring a team of Quantity Surveyors. You’ll ensure commercial procedures are followed, profitability is maintained, and risks are properly managed.
Key responsibilities include:
Overseeing commercial performance across a portfolio of projects
Leading and supporting a team of Quantity Surveyors
Preparing accurate cost reports, forecasts, and valuations
Ensuring contractual compliance across main contracts and subcontracts
Identifying entitlements and managing risk notices and record keeping
Attending commercial and progress meetings with clients and internal teams
Supporting final account agreements, retentions, and performance bond releases
Driving best practice and consistency across all commercial activity
Skills & Experience Required
Experience in a senior QS role within an M&E or main contracting environment
Strong understanding of commercial processes and contract administration
Ability to manage multiple projects and lead commercial teams
Skilled in cost forecasting, cash flow reporting, and final accounts
Excellent communication and negotiation abilities
Confident using Microsoft Office, especially Excel
Relevant qualifications or professional memberships (e.g. MRICS, MCIOB) are desirable
