Overview

Lead a complex healthcare project with a respected national contractor.

We’re working with a prominent M&E contractor to find a Mechanical Project Manager to join their growing team in Shrewsbury. This full-time role is available either as a permanent position (£60,000 – £70,000 + benefits) or on a contract basis with a competitive, negotiable day rate.

You’ll initially be taking the lead on a major healthcare scheme — the redevelopment of Shrewsbury Hospital — a flagship project requiring technical excellence, coordination skill, and confident leadership.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Leading the delivery of mechanical services on a major healthcare project

  • Managing project teams, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure timely and efficient delivery

  • Liaising with clients, consultants, and internal teams to maintain project alignment

  • Monitoring programme, quality, and budget performance

  • Overseeing compliance with health & safety standards and technical specifications

  • Reviewing and interpreting M&E designs, raising any technical issues early

  • Supporting procurement and commercial teams during the delivery phase

Skills & Experience Required

  • Experience managing mechanical building services projects (ideally including healthcare)

  • Strong leadership, planning, and coordination skills

  • A background in HVAC, plumbing, and medical gases is beneficial

  • Comfortable working on fast-paced, high-spec projects with multiple stakeholders

  • Able to interpret detailed mechanical designs and manage on-site installation teams

  • Full UK driving licence

  • Relevant mechanical qualifications or engineering degree preferred
