Overview
We are currently seeking a Senior Project Engineer (Mechanical OR Electrical) in Leeds to strengthen a major project delivery team.
The client is open to appointing the strongest person in either discipline, depending on background and project fit.
This is a senior, technically strong delivery role for someone who enjoys being close to the work, coordinating site activity, resolving technical issues quickly, and keeping quality, safety and programme aligned through installation, commissioning and handover.

Our client is an established UK contractor with a strong in-house engineering capability, delivering mechanical and electrical building services works across complex, regulated environments.
They run structured projects with clear processes, strong support functions and a steady pipeline of long-term work.
What You’ll Be Doing
Supporting M&E delivery from handover through installation, commissioning and close-out
Coordinating subcontractors, labour, materials and work fronts to maintain programme and productivity
Managing day-to-day technical queries, ensuring compliance with drawings, specifications and regulations
Driving quality control, inspections, snag management and readiness for testing and commissioning
Producing, reviewing or supporting RAMS, permits and safe systems of work where required
Supporting short-term planning, sequencing and lookaheads with supervisors and project management
Maintaining tidy records for QA, testing, commissioning and handover packs
Supporting progress reporting and escalating issues early to protect programme and quality
Building strong working relationships with the wider project team, client-side stakeholders and supply chain
Skills & Experience Required
For either discipline, you will have:
Proven experience in a Senior Project Engineer or Project Engineer role within M&E or building services delivery
Strong on-site experience and confidence interpreting drawings and specifications
A practical, solutions-led approach with strong attention to detail around QA, testing and handover
Clear communication skills and the ability to coordinate multiple parties on live sites
Full UK driving licence
SSSTS or SMSTS (preferred)
CSCS / ECS (preferred, depending on project requirements)
If you are mechanically biased:
Strong knowledge of HVAC, ventilation, pipework, plant, and commissioning readiness
Confidence managing mechanical subcontractors and technical resolution on site
If you are electrically biased:
Strong knowledge of LV systems, containment, distribution, testing and commissioning readiness
Confidence managing electrical subcontractors and driving technical queries through to closure
Benefits
Salary: £55,000 - £65,000 depending on experience
